I had a wonderful time working with a group of very imaginative young carers last week. They were doing PlayStory sessions, exploring their creative voices by developing short plays and then performing them for one another at the end of the day. I was impressed with their concentration and with all the excellent humorous story-lines they came up with. There was some real development over the two days. My particular favourites were the Essex Girl defeating baddies with a strategic spray of her perfume spritzer, the man with an allergy to bananas resulting in a “banana rash”, and the pirate so prone to hilarity, he even found a sword stuck in his leg amusing. Next week we move on to creating a piece for the group’s parents to come and watch on the last day. I’m really looking forward to it.
