Carnival! – Meeting Beeston Folk

Beeston Carnival Human Fruit Machine - CopyWe got a last minute invitation to Beeston Carnival from the Lovely Lynda, so we dashed over there on Saturday, and were so glad we’d gone! It was a fabulous event with some really great groups, and we spent the day meeting fascinating people.

There was Jean, who trained biology teachers at Nottingham University. She’d lived on campus for decades, had only recently moved to the area, but was completely involved in community life working with Beeston Civic Society. She was a delight to talk to. We met the folks of the Canalside Project, which looks absolutely brilliant, (very excited about this one). The Human Fruit Machine was genius – with beautiful make-up! And the people of Beeston Nursery and the Scout Group were a pleasure to chat to.

We had the best cup of tea ever at The Tea Shop (really, I’m not just saying it – the best ever), and watched a pipe band (my favourite kind). This was ‘Community’ at its best, with something for all ages, and a lovely welcoming atmosphere. Thank you Beeston!

Imogen and Madeleine.
